While researching marriage records in the Cirkreno perish (near Vrbovac in continental Croatia), I found proof that true love can be found even in the later years of ones life.

Mijo Horvat married his “young““love Mara in his 88th year.  At that moment  Mara in her 79 year. Both were recorded as Gypsies in the marriage books.

At the moment of marriage Mijo was on his death bed and Mara became his wife and widow at the same time.

We’ll never know why they married so “young“ and only on his deathbed… let it stay their eternal secret…
